How I work
I work primarily in stoneware, using a refined white glaze and delicate finishing to create forms that feel effortless and unforced. The shape of each piece informs its decoration, allowing simplicity and tactility to guide the process.
About Isil Campanella
A seasoned ceramic artist based in the New Forest, Hampshire, Isil is celebrated for her Mediterranean-inspired designs that combine simplicity, a refined coastal palette, and tactile beauty. Her creative practice includes bespoke commissions for interior designers, transforming ideas into handcrafted, unique pieces. Isil graduated from Dokuz Eylül University in Izmir, Turkey, where she completed a four-year degree in Ceramics. She holds a Bachelor’s (Honours) degree in Ceramics.
Isil also shares her expertise through an extensive programme of classes and workshops at SpudWORKS, a vibrant creative hub in Sway, where her studio is located.
My work is rooted in a deep, intuitive connection with clay. Each piece begins as a dialogue between material and maker, emerging naturally in the moment rather than through rigid design.
Inspired by the Mediterranean aesthetic and the serene beauty of coastal landscapes, my palette reflects calm, light, and purity. These influences combine with an inner sense of freedom - my soul shapes the work as much as my hands. Every piece is unique, handcrafted to evoke harmony and quiet elegance.
Pottery classes & workshops at SpudWorks
I teach small, friendly pottery courses at my Sway studio — four-week adult courses on Mondays and Thursdays, children’s ceramic parties, and private workshops for hen parties, birthdays and team-building days. Gift vouchers are available from £25.
