Welcome to Isil Ceramics, a ceramic studio based at SpudWorks in Sway, on the edge of the New Forest.
Handmade Stoneware Ceramics from The New Forest
Hi, I’m Isil, I make hand-built and wheel-thrown stoneware ceramics from my studio in Hampshire. Each piece is shaped, trimmed, glazed and fired by me. I work in small batches, so no two are ever quite the same.
What I make…
Tableware, vases, lamps and one-off sculptural pieces. My glazes lean into soft pale blues, chalky whites and earthy stones — quiet colours that suit the light here on the south coast and sit easily alongside natural materials at home.
You can see the current collection on my portfolio page, or commission something specific if you have a shape, size or colour in mind.
I teach small, friendly pottery courses at my Sway studio — four-week adult courses on Mondays and Thursdays, children’s ceramic parties, and private workshops for hen parties, birthdays and team-building days. Gift vouchers are available from £25.
See upcoming dates on the Class & Workshop page.

Preserving heritage skills
Hand-built and wheel-thrown is a slow craft, and that’s the point. Working this way keeps traditional ceramic techniques alive — from wedging clay by hand to mixing glazes in small test batches. Every piece carries the mark of how it was made.
